Work Life Balance - Gen Y's for the Taking PDF Print

Melbourne, 8th November 2006 - 75% of employees claim Work Life Balance initiatives in their organisations need improvement, and that they will leave if offered greater Work Life Balance incentives, according to an independent research study on Australians’ attitudes to work, “The Great Divide”, released today.

Conversely, over 65% of employers believe they provide healthy Work Life Balance initiatives, demonstrating part of the divide that exists between employers and employees, according to the 1st Executive study”.

Supporting the view of employees, most employers agreed that productivity, sick leave and improved morale were direct benefits associated with providing Work Life Balance.  However, most employees believe their employers could do more.

Andrew Thoseby, Director of 1st Executive said “Generation Y needs Work Life Balance if they are to stay in a job.  This demographic is, and will continue to be the driver of our workforce as Baby Boomers continue to exit the market.  Employers who ignore the need for better Work Life Balance will lose some of their best talent to organisations that do”.

The research study is available from 1st Executive for $295 including GST.  Survey design and statistical analysis by Aremel Researcy Pty. Ltd.
