Sunraysia Daily Melbourne Human Resources company 1st Executive has donated $750 to the Kokoda Youth Leadership Program. The cheque was presented to Hawthorn Football Club captain Richie Vandenberg who is a major supporter of the program. The Kokoda Youth Leadership Program was developed by the Mallee Accommodation and Support Program (MASP) and supported by fello Mindshop members Southern Cross Business Advisers (SCBA), and is inspired by the achievements of the Papuan Infantry Battalion during World War 2. The program aims to give disadvantaged youth a chance to discover their leadership potential by drawing upon the Kokoda spirit of mateship, courage and sacrifice. The four components that encompass the complete program include a 10-day visit to PNG, and a four-day trek to Kokoda, as well as an ongoing mentoring program, spanning over a period of 6 months. Donations were made by 1st Executive based on responses received during a research study focusing on Australians' attitudes to work, released this month. |
